Garter Belt with New Thigh Highs Update

The search continues to find appropriate items to change my wardrobe for Sir. We purchased our first garter belt, and tested it out one night. Lucky I already owned ONE pair of thigh-highs.

It worked fine that first evening, and held up to some beatings and fucking. But the material was flimsy and definitely didn't feel tight enough to hold up through the day.

Well, I was right. I purchased another pair of thigh highs online. Plain black that should go with a lot of clothing. When they arrived, I got out the garter belt and set it up to run errands around town (a true test).

It wasn't good.

Firstly I don't know what legs many manufacturers are using to create these socks, but these thigh highs barely went above my knee. I am not tall, only 5'3". Secondly, the thigh part was incredibly tight. It was a struggle to get enough room to get the garter clips applied, which is why they're a bit askew in the photo; it was a bitch to get them on. And if I didn't have the garter, there is no way these socks would have stayed up above the knee, at all.

The garter clips came undone several times throughout the day. They just couldn't stay on those socks. The material was not very thick; it's just too tight on my thigh; no give. Plus, the hooks are a crappy plastic. It took me about 10 actual minutes just to get the garter on, socks up, and everything hooked without snapping off repeatedly. I don't have that kind of time in the mornings; I would be very annoyed if I had to spend that kind of time everyday to put these on and then they still pop off!

The garter belt itself would not sit where I prefer, which is at my waist. It hung low at my hips, and barely stayed there. I could feel it sliding down, making me stress about everything staying in place all day.

Also, I was cold. I could definitely feel the breeze in the uncovered part of my legs under my skirt. Maybe because these weren't so high, but perhaps I need a good slip to help with that? I looked at slips the other day, but didn't find any to my liking.

This was not a good test. The thigh highs will be good for knee-highs, so I'll keep them, but this garter really won't do.

Luckily, I ordered another one online, and this one will be sturdier and stay put. It's a "shapewear" garter. Metal hooks, not plastic.  I also got another pair of thigh-highs in the mail to test. I'm excited!

Hopefully this next test will be better.

    1. I have looked at ones like that! Those are quite sexy - especially for spring! My main issue is that it is very cold here right now. And I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to stay warm in the winter and wear thigh-highs underneath my skirts. So I figured the thick sock type ones would help. A friend suggested I get a thick slip, too.

    2. well, no matter which end of my weight range i'm in, thigh highs just don't stay up on me. i don't think (by the looks of things) they stay up on ANYONE! that's gotta be the one thing in the world that has been falsely advertised for way too long!

And our men go ahead and believe that crap. I've also given up on pantyhose cos the crotch bit just keeps sagging. I wear "cotton on" brand tights (the people in australia will know it) now whenever i need a little warmth. But also, i don't have to contend with temperatures dipping the way you do.

  2. I wear thigh high cable knit socks- basically tights without the saggy crotch! LOL. I will say I do have to hike them up through the day- though they are warm.

    These might work- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZYJTHXJ/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B06ZYJTHXJ&pd_rd_wg=2VezP&pd_rd_r=A7XSWFVXTPY61JAKG7S8&pd_rd_w=EDHgz

You know what is going to happen, you will find the perfect thing, and the weather will instantly warm up! LOL

    Good luck!

    1. Hi Willie! That grey pair in the middle looks like the exact same one I just ordered off another website. I'm glad to hear they are warm; I did get a chance to briefly test them out in the house, but not outside yet!

I feel the same way about this weather. I figure though, that Sir isn't going to change his dress code for me before next year so I can just try to be prepared for then!

  3. I am perpetually frustrated by these stoopid things not being long enough, too.
"Fits up to 5'10" is one of the most erroneously-used phrases in the clothing industry...

    1. Makes me so mad! When I was buying pantyhose, I would have to buy a Queen, I think it was and I'm only 5'3!

Forget it if you have a thicker leg. All the stretch is taken up and they don't go UP then!

  4. I have the problem of everything being too big, or too long. How frustrating. Hope you find something that works.

  5. For the record, I'm not sure you can stay warm in thigh highs in the winter. And I'm a short person, but that doesn't mean that garter belts were comfortable (and I was a teenager back in the days before panty hose were a real thing.) So I wish you lots and lots of luck! With modern technology, I'm sure you'll find something that works well! <3

    1. If I were going for the sheer ones, I would have to agree, Olivia. I'm looking more for thigh-high thick socks. I was wearing leggings underneath my skirts, and they were pretty warm. the socks are about as thick, or sometimes thicker than the leggings, so if I can find a big enough pair to go UP and around my thick thighs (and stay up, maybe with garters) I think it will be okay!

  6. Hi (I just realized that you have a blog of your own....silly me) Anyway, i can't contribute much to this topic since, other than the occasional 'pouch panty', I don't cross-dress.......and Rosa is a casual clothes, comfy sort of Domme. So the only stockings or panty hose used here are placed over the washer drain hose to catch lint. But my guess is that even with sexy lingerie....the "you get what you pay for" advice probably holds true. LOL

    1. Hi. Thanks for finding me.

And its okay about not being able to help. I am definitely finding "you get what you pay for" to be true in this case, which is a help.

I could get away with cheap $5 leggings before and I don't think that will be the case here, at all.
